Dragons of the Irony Throne

The town of Labuan Bajo is on Flores Island in Indonesia. From there it is about an hour by boat to Rinca Island, part of Komodo National Park and home to the Komodo dragons.

Guides carrying big forked sticks take you around the island. The sticks are to hold back the dragons in the event of an emergency. Attacks are rare, but the dragons have killed people.

We went for a walk up a hill that had a nice view over the sea. It is a nice place for a walk, but you have to watch where you are going.

Fortunately the guides were paying attention.

And of course when it comes to danger, Japanese comedians are going to outdo most people.

Ayaka Imoto tied a piece of raw meat to her leg and outran a komodo dragon.
